Hace una semana les contaba cómo el fin de semana pasado había sido perfecto. Fueron muchas las cosas que lo hicieron excepcional, y una de ellas fue la maravillosa visita que hicimos como parte del diplomado en diseño de interiores que estoy tomando. En esta ocasión, Karen Collignon nos invitó a pasar el día con ella, conociendo uno de sus proyectos actuales, todavía en proceso. Lo que inició como una visita de campo, terminó en una increíble comida casual campirana, tremendamente inspiradora.

A week ago I was just telling you how my last weekend was perfect. There were many things that made it exceptional, and one of them was the visit we made as part of the interior design course I’m taking. Designer Karen Collignon herself invited us to spend the day with her, at one of her actual projects, still in progress. What begun as a simple visit turned out to be one of the most amazing events, a casual country lunch, as inspiring as can be.

La decoración de la mesa fue muy casual y sencilla… increíblemente linda.

The table styling was casual and simple. Just perfect.

Las plantas, especialmente los olivos, fueron un bonito detalle en la mesa. Al final del día, nos regalaron uno a cada quien (de hecho, el mío fue el que fotografié acá).

The plants, especially the olives, were a great detail on the table. At the end of the day, they gave one to each of us (I took some photos of mine here).

Por supuesto, no podría faltar la foto de grupo :) Fue un día increíble, la compañía estupenda, la comida y la bebida deliciosa, la charla muy amena, el lugar precioso, y Karen y su esposo, los mejores anfitriones y maestros.  Todo fue perfecto.

Por cierto, además de mi grupo, en esta visita también estuvo el grupo del diplomado de paisajismo, por lo que también tuvimos la experiencia de conocer el proyecto desde esa perspectiva. Espero mañana estar compartiendo las fotos de los hermosos exteriores.

Group photo, of course :) It was an amazing day, with the best company, delicious food and drinks, gorgeous place, and Karen and her husband the perfect hosts and teachers. Everything was simply perfect.

By the way, besides our group, the guys from the landscaping course were also there, so we had the chance to see this aspect of the project as well. I’m hoping tomorrow I’ll show you those lovely photos too.

Hace una semana me invitaron a la inauguración de la primera boutique Nespresso en Guadalajara. Fue un evento increíble que disfruté mucho. Asistieron grandes personalidades y directivos de la marca, sin embargo, lo mejor para mí fue conocer la boutique, llena de estilo y buen gusto.

A little over a week ago I was invited to the opening of Nespresso‘s first boutique in Guadalajara. It was an amazing event I really enjoyed. However, what I loved the most was visiting the boutique itself, stylish and classy.

El diseño de la tienda es muy sobrio y elegante, con un toque moderno pero también vintage. Me encantó que usaran el producto como parte de la decoración de la tienda, y es que aprovecharon las cajitas y los vasitos de nespresso para dotar de color y diseño a las paredes.  Súper original. El estilismo del aparador también está muy bien logrado, con muchos detalles un tanto masculinos… el sombrero, el radio vintage, una lamparita y la máquina nespresso. Definitivamente se antoja disfrutar una taza de café.

Sin duda un evento al que me encantó asistir. Muchas gracias a Nespresso por la invitación ;)

The store’s interior design is very stylish and elegant, with a modern yet vintage twist. I loved the way they used the product as part of the design, using boxes and cups to add color and pattern to the walls. So creative! The styling in the store window is great too, with masculine details such as the hat and the vintage radio. A perfect window vignette that really makes me want to get a cup of coffee.

I loved the event! Thanks to Nespresso for the invite :)

Hace precisamente un año publiqué un post súper inspirador con hermosos baños, fotografiados por Brandon Barré. Eran baños que verdaderamente me dejaron fascinada (y a los lectores igual), por su originalidad y belleza. Pues bien, ahora vuelvo a darme una vuelta por el portafolio de Barré, y nuevamente me encuentro inspirada por espacios increíblemente diseñados y decorados, llenos de clase y estilo, pero también con un aspecto casual que el estilo contemporáneo aporta (y que a mí me fascina).

Exactly a year ago, I published a super inspiring post with gorgeous bathrooms photographed by Brandon Barré. These bathrooms left me speechless (and the readers as well), because of their originality and beauty. Now, a year later, I once again find amazing inspiration in Barré’s portfolio. Spaces with a casual elegance I really adore.

¿Verdad que son hermosos? Espacios lo suficientemente elegantes para tener estilo y clase, pero lo suficientemente casuales también para sentirlos propios y antojarse estar ahí. Hay muchos grises y maderas, así como piezas modernas que destacan en los espacios. El baño con doble altura es un verdadero sueño lejano… pero sin duda podemos tomar inspiración de lugares así para llevarla a nuestra casa, ¿no te parece? Por cierto, adoro los azulejos de la regadera, me encanta el patrón geométrico que dibujan en el piso.

Hablando de baños, en serio te recomiendo que te des una vuelta en este link para que veas los baños fotografiados también por Brandon Barré. En serio que son de los baños más bonitos que he visto en toda mi vida (no exagero).

Aren’t they all so gorgeous? There’s enough class to make it elegant, but also they are casual enough to feel cozy and welcoming. Lots of grays and wood tones, as well as key modern pieces that stand out in the rooms. The bathroom is such a dream place to me… a little out of reach, definitely, but amazingly inspiring! By the way, I’m in love with the tiles on the floor. They make such a beautiful pattern.

Hoy las plantas se vienen pa’dentro, de la mano de la estilista y fotógrafa Daniella Witte. Increíble cómo bastan unas ramitas para alegrar un espacio, y cómo se puede jugar con sus colores y texturas para transmitir exactamente las emociones que queremos. Después de pasar un buen rato disfrutando y devorándome el trabajo de Daniella, me queda claro que las plantas definitivamente son una manera muy fácil y accesible de levantar cualquier rincón de nuestra casa, ¿no te parece?

(Se nota que quiero unas plantas, ya sea dentro o fuera de casa, ¿eh? :)

After yesterday’s post, we’re bringing the plants inside, with a little help from stylist and photographer Daniella Witte. It’s amazing how little it takes to brighten up any room, and how plants are perfect with all their colors and textures to communicate emotions and create the atmosphere we want to. After spending quite a while devouring Daniella’s work, it becomes evident how easy for anybody it is to use plants in our home, don’t you think?

(Can anybody tell I’m craving for plants?)

Desde hace algunos meses en que pude cambiar mi celular, me divierto mucho pasando el tiempo en Instagram. Es mi más reciente afición. Podría, incluso, llegar a ser un vicio, pero me controlo, jeje. When I finally changed my cell phone for a smart one, I enjoy spending time on Instagram. It’s my latest obsession. I think it’s so amazing to share pretty moments in our lives to others, or very own perspective, through photos. And then, to be able to discover so many interesting people, with the great gift of photography. Truly inspiring.

Well, my latest discovery on Instagram is Tomy K, a Greek designer with the most incredible taste and style. I’m so in love with his home! So, today’s tour is the gorgeous home of Tomy K, through Instagram. Hope you enjoy it.

Un estilo desenfadado, espacios que se antojan, así es el hogar de Tomy K. Mucho blanco y gris, y luego los toques de color que le dan alegría. Yo podría pasarme todo el tiempo viendo esta casa…

Si hay una tienda en todo el mundo que sueñe con que llegue a México es West Elm. Su línea es juvenil, pero con la dosis exacta de estilo, contemporaneidad y clase… perfecta para cualquier estilo, pero especialmente, perfecta para mí. Una “hojeada” virtual a su catálogo me hace suspirar, y es que cada que veo alguna de las fotografías me siento completamente identificada. A continuación, algunas tomas de los catálogos de abril y mayo, llenos de color para estos días de calor.

If there’s any store in the world I would love to come to Mexico is West Elm. I love its modern line, with the exact dose of style, contemporary feel and class. It seems to me it’s perfect for any style, but it is especially perfect for me. A virtual look at their catalogue makes me dream and wonder. It’s just that every time a see one of their photographs I feel completely identified. Here are a few from their April and May colorful catalogues, for these warm days.

Inspirada en la belleza y resistencia de la mariposa Monarca, esta hermosa pieza llamada Silla Mariposa fue diseñada por tres jóvenes mexicanos y acaba de ganar el premio del primer lugar en el concurso internacional de diseño A´Design Award and Competition, en Milán.

Inspired by the beauty and strenght of the “Monarch” butterly, this gorgeous chair designed by three young Mexican designers has just won the first prize in the A´Design Award and Competition in Milan.

Se trata de una pieza con una singular belleza y funcionalidad. Los diseñadores, Eduardo García, Paloma López Flores yYannick Jacques, se inspiraron en la forma y estructura del ala de la mariposa Monarca para crear una silla “confortable, estética, ligera pero muy fuerte, propia para interiores tanto como para exteriores”. Lo mejor de todo, y lo que la hace única es que al colocar una frente a la otra se consigue la figura de una mariposa.

It is a really gorgeous yet functional piece of furniture. The butterfly’s wing was used as inspiration for its shape and structure, to create a “very confortable, aesthetic and light but strong piece of indoor-outdoor furniture”. The best thing, though, is when facing one chair against another, they make the shape of a butterfly. 

Fue diseñada para producirse en una sola pieza de aluminio, sin embargo también podría crearse con otros materiales, como son fibra de vidrio, bronce, plástico, etc. Además, se puede guardar una dentro de la otra para su almacenamiento.

It was designed to be produced in one single piece of cast aluminum, but it can also be produced in plastic, carbonfiber, or bronze. Plus, it can be stacked by putting one inside the other.

Es un orgullo y una alegría enorme saber que un diseño de Guadalajara ganó este año el premio en Milán, con una pieza tan hermosa y bien diseñada.

It makes me really proud and happy to know that a design from Guadalajara won the first prize in Milan this year, with such a beautiful and well designed piece of furniture.

No cabe duda que marzo fue un buen mes para los amantes de la decoración en México. Y es que, además de la apertura de la primera tienda H&M Home, en los últimos días de marzo abrió Crate and Barrel, en Paseo Interlomas. Sobra decir que Crate and Barrel (y demás tiendas hermanas) es una de mis tiendas favoritas… mirar sus catálogos es pura inspiración (de hecho, guardo algunos en mis repisas). ¡Otro motivo más para ir a la Ciudad de México!!!!

There’s no doubt that March was a great month for all of u,s design-lovers in Mexico. Besides the opening of H&M Home, a couple of weeks ago, Crate and Barrel opened their first store, also in Mexico City. This is one of my all-time favorite home decor stores. Just looking at their catalogues is pure inspiration! Another reason to visit Mexico City!

¿Verdad que es increíble? Y aquí un “mood board” (muro de inspiración) que hice con algunas de mis piezas favoritas de la colección de primavera que ya puedes encontrar en la tienda.

Spring has officially sprung! That’s why my fellow bloggers and I have decided to virtually meet at a Spring space, fresh and ready for the season :)

Mi propuesta para esta ocasión es esta bellísima cocina blanca. Al verla, inmediatamente pensé en la frescura y alegría de la primavera, gracias a toda esa luz y flores, y por supuesto, gracias también a ese toque inesperado de amarillo, que ilumina todo el espacio y le inyecta mucha vida.  Ahora que están de moda las cocinas de dos colores, ésta es una manera muy original de incorporarlo, ¿no crees?

The space I chose this time is a gorgeous white kitchen, which immediately set my mind into Spring mode, thanks to all that light and beautiful flowers, and of course, the unexpected touch of yellow. Now that two-toned kitchens are a huge trend, this is a very original way to go for it, don’t you think?

Como saben, adoro la iluminación estilo industrial en los espacios contemporáneos; sin embargo, encontrar este tipo de lámparas en México hasta ahora había sido muy difícil -o caro. Por eso me dio mucho gusto cuando vi los nuevos productos en el catálogo de tecnolite; hay varias opciones que se verían increíbles en cualquier espacio. A continuación, mis favoritas :)

As you know, I love industrial lighting in contemporary spaces. However, finding options in Mexico was tough -and expensive- so far. That’s why I loved tecnolite‘s latest catalogue, with new options that would look amazing in any room. These are my favorites :)
