Cada vez más, la arquitectura busca integrar espacios, crear hogares en donde el exterior conviva con el interior y viceversa. Pues bien, uno de los mejores ejemplos que he tenido la oportunidad de conocer personalmente, es justo el proyecto del que les platicaba ayer. De la visita que hicimos el fin de semana pasado como parte de mi diplomado en interiorismo, ya sólo queda mostrar el increíble trabajo de paisajismo de esta casa, que consigue precisamente confundir la línea entre interior y exterior, creando así espacios serenos, bellamente integrados con la naturaleza. Vale la pena destacar que ni la casa, ni el jardín están terminados todavía.

Nowadays, architecture seek to integrate spaces, creating homes where the outdoors and indoor live together. One of the best examples I’ve had the chance to see for myself is the project I was blogging about yesterday. The landscaping work at this house is really amazing, and it’s a perfect example of how well outdoor and indoor can blend, creating serene spaces, beautifully integrated with nature. Something worth mentioning is neither the house nor the garden are yet finished.

En el lugar hay un vivero, por lo que pudimos disfrutar también de una clase con los alumnos y el maestro del diplomado de paisajismo. Con lo mucho que me gustan los jardines, y las ganas que tengo de arreglar el que tenemos en casa, estoy pensando seriamente tomar este diplomado. :)

There’s a nursery on site, so we could enjoy a class with the guys from the landscaping course. Being such a garden fan myself, and wanting to makeover our backyard, I so want to take this course! :)

Como ya lo he dicho, fue un día increíble, lleno de aprendizajes, buenos momentos e inspiración. :)

Like I said, the most perfect day, filled with great experiences, new knowledge, and inspiration .:)

Con la semana tan llena de trabajo como va, yo sigo con la búsqueda de pequeños breaks mentales… No cabe duda que uno de los espacios que debería de ser más relajante es el baño, así que hoy llevamos la inspiración a ese espacio tan íntimo. El estilo zen ya tiene varios años, y sin embargo, sigue hoy tan vigente como antes: transmite mucha paz y serenidad, y va muy bien con los estilos modernos minimalistas, Predominan las líneas y formas simples, elementos naturales, como la piedra, la madera y la vegetación, y colores neutros para crear un ambiente que sin duda invita al descanso y a la relajación.

Mi favorito, creo que es el primero… aunque todos me gustan mucho. ¿A ti cuál te gusta más?

With the busy week I’m having, I keep searching online for little mental getaways :) Today we’re taking the inspiration to a very special place: the bathroom. The zen style has been going on for years now, and yet, it still feels amazing to me: peaceful and serene, and perfect for modern, minimalistic homes. Lots of simple lines and shapes, paired up with natural elements, such as wood, stone, and plants, and neutral tones for a relaxing atmosphere.

I think my favorite pic is the first one, though I really like them all. Which do you prefer?

Últimamente he estado viendo muchas fotos de jardines, y es que de un tiempo para acá he sentido muchas ganas de arreglar nuestro pedacito de tierra, y transformarlo en un pequeño oasis urbano.  Por muchos años lo hemos tenido relegado, pero este clima hace que se me antoje abrir las ventanas y tener un lindo espacio exterior para disfrutar. Aquí les comparto algunas de las imágenes que más me han gustado; espero las disfruten ;)

 I’ve been thinking about transforming our little piece of backyard, so I’ve been looking at lots of garden photos. We’ve had our garden pretty plain for years now, but the warm weather makes me want to open the doors and let the outdoors in. Here are a few of the pics I’ve liked the most. I hope you find them as inspiring as I do. ;)

¿Verdad que hay cosas muy lindas? Es increíble como hasta en el más pequeño balcón se puede crear un rinconcito donde disfrutar de la vegetación. Igual que con la buena decoración, un buen paisajismo puede crear la sensación de que el espacio es más amplio de lo que en realidad es. Hay muchos estilos que me gustan… pero de todos estos, creo que mi favorito es este último… un patio de estilo muy mediterráneo. Increíblemente acogedor :)

Aren’t they gorgeous? It’s amazing how the smallest balcony can become a cute little oasis. Just like with good interior design, good landscaping can really create the feeling of larger outdoor rooms than what they really are. There are lots of styles I enjoy, but I think my favorite pic is this last one… so gorgeous :)

El espacio es una de esas cosas de las que nunca (o casi nunca) tenemos lo suficiente en las casas. Los hogares siempre necesitan todo el espacio de almacenamiento que se les pueda dar, y, el caso de las casas chiquitas, es una de las cosas más preciadas del mundo.

El espacio que hoy te quiero presentar no es para nada chiquito, pero sí ofrece una solución de organización que, en lo particular, me deja encantada. :)

Space is one of those things we can never (or almost never) get enough in a house. Homes are always in need of good storage space, and that’s even more precious if the home is small. 

The space I’m sharing today is not a tiny room, but it has a gorgeous organizing solution I really like :)

Qué increíble manera de aprovechar la pared, ¿no crees? Un mueble a la medida, en blanco para no restarle amplitud al espacio, que aprovecha toda la pared en donde se recarga la cama. Muchos rincones donde guardar libros, mostrar fotografías y demás tesoros. Además, la recámara es en sí misma una belleza, con colores cálidos y neutros, donde el blanco y los colores claros destacan y hacen del espacio un lugar luminoso y sereno. La combinación blanco, negro y madera nuevamente se hace presente, para lograr un estilo country moderno que lo tiene todo: clásico, elegante y relajado a la vez.

Don’t you just love the way the wall is used? The built-in shelves are gorgeous, and the white helps them blend into the wall, adding to the sense of space in the room. There’s plenty of storage space, and enough room to display photographs and objects. I know the bedroom is in itself a beauty, with the warm, neutral tones, where white and light cream make it look spacious and serene. The black, white, and wood palette manages to make this modern country style look both elegant and relaxed, all at the same time.

¡Es increíble como tan sólo el cambio de color transformó el espacio! El blanco llenó la cocina de luz, ahora se ve fresca, limpia, y más amplia. La cubierta de madera le da mucha calidez, y aporta al estilo cottage (uno de mis favoritos). La paleta blanco y negro, con toques de madera, lo convierte en un espacio muy elegante, clásico pero con un toque moderno… en fin, una transformación muy atinada y, ojo, hecha por los dueños de la casa. Inspirador, ¿no te parece?

It’s amazing how the color change transformed the space! The white filled the air with light, and it now looks clean, fresh and bigger! I love all the wood tones in the black and white room. I think it makes it look elegant, timeless yet modern. Definitely an amazing makeover.

Hoy amanecí con antojo. Sí, con antojo de estar en este espacio, bellamente diseñado por Tobi Tobin.  Sabemos que las sillas diferentes son una fuerte tendencia, sin embargo, en esta ocasión son verdaderamente diferentes, todas con mucho carácter y protagonismo. Una paleta neutra, algunos detalles en color negro, y la inmensa lámpara suspendida.

Hermoso y simple.

Today I’m feeling like having breakfast in this lovely space, by designer Tobi Tobin. We are well aware that mismatched chairs are a huge trend, but these chairs are quite different, and somehow they all work well together, eventhough each is strong and bold. A neutral palette, some black accents, and then, the huge pendant.

Simple and beautiful.

Generalmente somos muy tradicionales en cuanto a puertas se trata. Al menos acá en México, las puertas suelen ir color madera, con un barniz o ligero tinte, pero nada fuera de lo común. Por supuesto que no tiene nada de malo, pero creo que a veces vale la pena salir de lo convencional y atreverse a ser diferentes. Hoy te comparto una serie de puertas que son de lo más inspiradoras. Colores brillantes, detalles originales… puertas que definitivamente hacen una declaración.

Generally speaking, we tend to be rather traditional regarding doors, at least in Mexico, that is. It’s almost unthinkable to paint a door (or any wood for that matter), so they tend to go in natural wood tones. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong about it, but I really think we should get creative once in a while. Today, some doors from my inspirational files. Bright colors, original details… doors that definitely make a statement.

En momentos como éstos me dan ganas de tomar un bote de pintura y atacar nuestra puerta… lástima que las reglas de condominio no nos lo permitan :( Mientras tanto, suspiraremos con estas imágenes… ¿cuál es tu favorita?

Hoy tengo antojo de pasar el día en esta hermosa recámara blanco y negro.

Today I’m craving this gorgeous black and white bedroom.

Como ya lo he dicho, me gusta mucho el contraste entre ambos colores, suavizado por los tonos cafés y grises, y en este caso creo que resulta muy atinado. La pared del fondo está pintada de negro mate, lo cual hace que destaque la gran cabecera, y los cojines son el toque perfecto para darle calidez al espacio. ¿A ti qué te parece?

As I’m always saying, I love the contrast between black and white, and how light brown and gray soften it and make it look so cozy. I love the black wall against the white headboard, and the pillows are simply perfect, don’t you agree?

En la vida real, transformar un espacio y convertirlo en el lugar que soñamos suele ser mucho más lento de lo que lo quisiéramos… especialmente si, como nosotros, tienes poco presupuesto y tiempo. Los días vuelan, y cuando menos te das cuenta, resulta que  ya casi se cumplen 2 años desde aquella vez que nos propusimos por primera vez transformar el cuarto de nuestra hija. Los cambios se fueron haciendo poco a poco, primero una cosa, luego la otra… hasta hace algunas semanas en las que nos pusimos a trabajar para terminar los últimos detalles y hoy me hace mucha ilusión poder compartir los resultados  :)

In real life, transforming a space and turning it into your dream home takes far more months than what you’ve planned, especially if you, like us, are low on budget and time. Days fly by, and then you realize it’s almost 2 years since you first made plans about your daughter’s room (that’s us, again). We began by making little tweaks and minor changes, then one thing led to the other until a few weeks ago we set our minds to finish those little details missing. Now, I’m thrilled to share with you the results, at least so far :)

Me encanta ver cómo el espacio se ha acomodado a la forma de ser de nuestra hija. A ella siempre le ha gustado mucho toda la temática parisina, así que le encantaron las sábanas y el edredón “París”, de VNG, junto con su canopy “Sweet”. Aprovechando su pared pintarrón, yo le dibujé unas ventanitas muy al estilo francés para sorprenderla cuando viera su recámara.

I love how this room has turned into an expression of our daughter. She has always liked Paris, so she loved the sheets and duvet from VNG to go along with the “Sweet” canopy. Then, I drew some very French windows on her dry erase board wall to add up to the surprise.

Este lado de la pared ya lo había mostrado hace poco… prácticamente sigue igual, a excepción de los cuadros que cambiamos para que fueran a juego con el nuevo edredón. Estos son el modelo “París”, y lo que más me gusta es que el tono de azules el mismo que ya teníamos en la pared.

This side of the room, I had shown a little ago. It’s pretty much the same, except we changed the canvases to match the bedding. These are the called “Paris” and I love that the blue in the one above is just the same tone as the one on the wall.

Después de eso, fue agregar las tan anheladas cortinas (ella ya no quería las persianas)… su modelo favorito fue el “Galicia”, con sus delicadas líneas horizontales. Encima de ellas pusimos unas black out en blanco, para cuando necesite oscurecer su habitación. Usamos tubos cromados y las terminales Melfi.

Then it was just a matter of getting rid of the pink blinds, and installing the new curtains. Her favorite model is called “Galicia”, and it’s quite lovely with delicate horizontal stripes. Then, we put some white blackout curtains on top. We used the crome tube and Melfi  finial.

Como puedes ver, es un cuarto súper chiquito, pero ahora está lleno de estilo. A ella le encanta, y a mí también. Creo que quedó ideal para su edad (12 años), ya que lo quería femenino sin ser infantil. A mí me fascina el aire romántico que le aportan el canopy y las cortinas, ahora la recámara se ve mucho más “vestida” y terminada, y como las pusimos hasta el piso, le da una sensación de mayor amplitud. De hecho, a pesar del tamaño, este espacio no se siente apretado ni atiborrado… definitivamente este acomodo (igual al del cuarto de la bebé) con la cama pegada a la pared se presta mucho para los cuartos pequeñitos porque queda más lugar para moverse, y acomodar otras cosas, como en este caso, el escritorio que hicimos. Por último, los pequeños detalles, como son las flores, los viniles, la punta en la funda y demás accesorios, completan la decoración… ¿a ti qué te parece?

As you may notice, this is a tiny room, but it is now big on style. She loves it, and so do I. I think it’s perfect for her age (12) because it’s feminine without being childish. I love the romantic, airy feel the canopy and curtains give. I think in spite of its size, it doesn’t look cramped, and there’s room to move around and extra storage space in the desk and drawers. Last, but not least, it’s the little details that make it feel complete. How do you like it?

Para inspirarnos el día de hoy, un comedor con un estilo muy escolar. La pared luce muy interesante con el gran mapa en tonos morados, los cuales se retoman en la mesa. Las sillas y lámpara vintage terminan el look para crear un espacio con mucho carácter y personalidad. Por cierto, el mapa lo puedes encontrar acá.

A very school-like, vintage dining room with a punch of purple is inspiring me today. I love the huge world map, and how the table matches the tones on it. The vintage chairs and pendant add up to the character and personality of the space. By the way, you can find the map here.
